Coating Scientist

Scope

The Coating Engineer or scientist will coordinate the coating process development on the solid oxide metal interconnects. This role is also responsible for identifying different coating techniques and applications and scaling up the process from laboratory to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

1. Research and develop new coating formulations.
2. Fabricate and test the selected coatings in various high-temperature environments using design of experiments.
3. Responsible for project planning, design of experiments, and ensuring the coating meets quality standards.
4. Optimize coating formulation and application for quality improvement.
5. Coordinate research projects with other scientists and engineers.
6. Lead and/or participate in the scale-up activity from lab to manufacturing and commercializing.
7. Ensure all tests and procedures meet company and industry standards.
8. Maintain accurate, detailed analysis and reporting records.
9. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

1. M.Sc or PhD in Materials Science or Engineering.
2. 5 plus years of experience in coating development.
3. Hands-on equipment knowledge related to materials laboratory and coating process.
4. Process knowledge of different coating methods and powder metallurgy.
5. Customer-focused approach to dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
6. Knowledge of engineering and testing procedures.
7. Ability to manage priorities and deliver against deadlines.
8. A high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
10. Technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
11. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Work Conditions

1. Multi-work environment (manufacturing, production, warehouse, research and development, office) requiring the use of PPE.
2. Full-time hours (40 hrs a week).
3. Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds.
4. Bending, sitting, standing, kneeling, and walking.

Travel Requirements

1. Travel of up to 10% might be required for this role.
