This seasonal job is expected to start in late April, 2024, and based out of St. Margaret’s, NB, you will be performing a variety of tasks, including preventive maintenance and repairs to rolling-stock (tractors, loaders, forklifts, trucks and implements). Your work includes:
- oil & filter changes
- welding & fabrication
- basic 12 & 24 volt electrical troubleshooting & installation
- hydraulic hose repair
- etc.
Applicants MUST:
- Work in a safe manner and display a good attitude
- Have reliable transportation and be capable of working overtime
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Maintain a neat, safe work environment
- Be capable of working in a noisy, dusty environment and in cold and hot conditions
- Be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Be a licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic OR be a recognized apprentice in the trade OR be able to demonstrate proficiency and experience in the trade
- Meet minimum performance standards, including pre-employment testing (theory and practical)
- Be capable of climbing safely in and out of heavy equipment
- Be able to speak, read and write in ENGLISH and be able to communicate well
- Not have restrictions limiting one’s ability to properly wear Personal Protective Equipment
- Provide a CPIC (Criminal Record) Check. Note: This is NOT a requirement for current Scotts Associates
Applicants MAY have to provide a driver’s abstract (driving record)
Normal shifts, during production season, are 7:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday, with compulsory overtime coinciding with bog operations (weather-dependent), which could run into evenings or on weekends.. Double-time pay on Sundays.
Bilingualism is an asset, but not a requirement.
This is a UNIONIZED position. Wages determined by Collective Agreement ($23.02 to $28.82, depending on ability, training and experience)
