Griffith Foods is a global manufacturer of food products. We provide a wide range of taste and texture components for food industry customers throughout the world. Our products include seasoning blends, dry mixes, coating systems, dough blends, crumbs, flavors, sauces and food bases that are used in an extensive variety of application from snack foods and processed meat and poultry to ready meals. Our customers include food processors, restaurant operators and grocery retailers. While our name may not be familiar to consumers, our products are key components of foods offered by many of the world’s best-known companies.

Reporting to the Manager, Research & Development, the Senior Food Scientist leads Griffith Foods Canada’s Research & Development projects to develop new and optimized products for key clients that support the overall Griffith Foods business strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages R&D projects and conducts ongoing scientific experiments contributing to new products and technologies.
  • Offers recommendations for new products, processes, techniques, or solutions.
  • Operates specialized equipment, evaluate materials and products, and assists in production trials as required.
  • Communicates professionally with all departments, clients, and suppliers.
  • Maintains GLP's, GMP's, and accurate laboratory records.
  • Provides leadership and training to more junior scientists.
  • Participates in sensory panels.
  • Leads or participates in customer presentations.
  • Leads or participates in internal cross-functional teams to complete special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining the security of all information regarding product formulas and related confidential information.
  • Ensures a clean and safe work environment.
  • Complies with all product safety, regulatory, and quality requirements, and with all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Sciences degree in Food Science or related technical degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Research and Development or related experience within the food industry.
  • Experience working with Food Service/QSR and Seafood Processors is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate specialized processing equipment and instruments is preferred.
  • Travel as required.
