Job Description

Our client, a leading financial services provider, is seeking an Accountant to join their team in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing bookkeeping and financial operations while providing leadership and expertise to the team to support their continued growth. This is a permanent opportunity, ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial drive and expertise in managing payroll and tax compliance.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:
  • Oversee and manage all bookkeeping, including recording financial transactions and ensuring timely account reconciliations for multiple business units
  • Manage and process payroll, and ensure compliance with all regulations
  • Prepare small business tax returns
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Ensure compliance will all tax laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with management on strategic financial planning
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior accounting staff
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with external parties
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business (diploma or degree)
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in bookkeeping, accounting and/or financial management
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and Canadian tax laws
  • Proficient in accounting software, particularly Quickbooks, and the ability to learn new systems efficiently
  • Solid leadership abilities coupled with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adept at cultivating meaningful professional connections
  • Ability to efficiently manage workloads, delegate, and meet deadlines
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
