Job Title: Ecologist (Short-Term Contract)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ecologist to join the team for a short-term cover role on the HS2 project. This position is based in Watford and involves working for a leading Tier 1 Joint Venture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering projects and specific experience with HS2.

1. Conduct ecological surveys and assessments in line with HS2 standards and guidelines.
2. Monitor and report on ecological impacts related to civil engineering activities.
3. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and HS2 requirements.
4. Provide expert advice on ecological issues to the project team.
5. Implement mitigation strategies to protect local wildlife and habitats.
6. Collaborate with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to integrate ecological considerations into project planning and execution.

1. Proven experience as an Ecologist on civil engineering projects, preferably within the rail sector.
2. Specific experience working on HS2 projects is essential.
3. Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and best practices.
4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
5. Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under tight deadlines.
6. Relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
7. Professional membership or certification (e.g., CIEEM) is desirable.
