We are looking for a Game Designer, specialized in UI and Online features to join the Haven Entertainment Studios project team. The UI and Online Game Designer will be responsible for defining the requirements for User Interface features and systems, including menus, HUD elements, and watchability features in our multiplayer GAAS game. They will collaborate with the content directors, the design, insight and UX team in order to ensure consistency throughout all menus, as well as elaborating intuitive interfaces for the game features. The UI and Online Game Designer will work closely with our engineering teams by establishing the online flow to support the complete players and watchers experience.

Direction

The UI & Online Game Designer will report to a Producer.

Responsibilities

  • Be the owner of the User Interface features in and around the game. You will collaborate closely with Direction, Designers, Production and Online teams.
  • Craft and balance the UI systems and features to build a welcoming, accessible and watchable player experience by fostering clear flows, immersive and intuitive user interface.
  • Develop a coherent and scalable online game flow that leverages the overall game’s vision.
  • Collaborate with the online team on multiplayer features made for a long term live game
  • Write design documentation for features and systems.
  • Participate in analytics/ tracking tools design, monitor & analyze results to ensure rational/ data informed strategy
  • Create flexible systems and data structure to allow for rapid iteration. 
  • Work closely with all development teams to develop and maintain the features.
  • Be proactive regarding market trends and competition.
  • Effectively communicate design concepts to other stakeholders. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep understanding and passion for the principles of game design and mechanics.
  • 3+ years of experience as a game designer, preferably working on UI and Online systems and features.
  • Experience in working directly on a game-as-a-service multiplayer game. 
  • Good methodology and problem solving ability, with a focus on rapid iteration to achieve balance, pacing, and fun.
  •  Effective collaborator with developers from other disciplines, along with willingness to lead focused multidisciplinary efforts.
  • Ability to create high level design documentation and game concepts.
  • A solid grasp of online systems commonly employed in games-as-a-service multiplayer schemes.
  • A solid grasp of streaming platforms, broadcasting and watching patterns’ evolution in the industry.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of the video game industry and its players: Strong understanding of player psychology, group dynamic and belonging that drives player’s engagement.
