The Construction Manager – Transmission is responsible for the guidance, direction, planning and execution of projects within the Transmission division. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Construction Manager will ensure that projects are executed efficiently and achieve K-lines objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures construction forces manage construction activities according to contract, scope, and schedule.
  • Support the Project Managers and department manager to obtain the best possible financial, and reputational result.
  • Ensure all subcontractor activities are performed to PO/Contract
  • Identify in a timely manner any pending changes or changes made to the work performed to the Project Managers that may impact costs, schedule, contract or customer relationship.
  • Effectively tracks all details related to changes to the work to ensure all accurate and timely Change Order Requests can be submitted
  • Identifies and commits resources (labour, tools & Equipment) required for the construction activities
  • Provides expert judgement and input to client inquiries, NCR’s, safety matters, construction planning.
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with vendors and suppliers. Monitor, manage and negotiate the contracts and agreements to ensure reliable service and cost effectiveness.
  • Accountable for all site health and safety, and security on multiple sites
  • Conducts regular site inspections and ensures all findings are properly addressed
  • Performs field Quality Control audits/inspections and communicates/resolves deficiencies as necessary
  • Effectively communicates the team’s operational priorities, strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Provide input to strategic planning activities and tactical implementation throughout the organization.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of construction management experience within the high voltage transmission industry
  • Excellent communication and Management skills
  • Understanding of material and equipment used throughout Transmission projects
  • Understanding materials used and procedures applicable to the work being performed
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Strong understanding of project and program management
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
