We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded individual to join the core leadership team of Shift Auto Group, a fast-growing business with a track record of success, a culture of integrity, and a passionate team that values accountability, efficiency and exceptional customer service.

In this position you will be charge of all accounting functions for all of Shift Auto Group locations.

Shift Auto Group is one of Atlantic Canada’s fastest growing automotive retail companies. Since our establishment in 2015, we have, in five short years, grown from one location with 10 staff to twenty-one locations and nearly 300 staff across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (and we are just getting started). Shift Auto Group’s locations consist of:

- Four New Car Dealerships - Volvo Cars New Brunswick, Fredericton Mitsubishi, Miramichi Kia, Grand Falls Hyundai

- Seven Used Car Dealership - Five ReCar locations (Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton and Woodstock in New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia) and two St. Croix Auto locations in Fredericton and St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

- Nine Wonder Auto & Tire location across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

- Velocity Auto Body in Fredericton.

Responsibilities:

· Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team including hiring, coaching, accountability, performance reviews and disciplinary action.

· Management of the overall accounting functions of the accounting team, ensuring we are working at the highest possible level of efficiency and accuracy.

· Preparing and facilitating weekly accounting team meetings to ensure that the communication within the accounting team is one of our core strengths.

· Prepare, review and present timely financial accounting reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to key senior leadership team members including invested partners, department managers and other stakeholders.

· Work with the CFO to ensure our monthly and annual budgeting process is in place and is active across all business units.

· Working with the CFO to consistently and constantly monitor cash flow.

· Work with leadership to find areas of opportunity for cost savings, efficiencies and revenue opportunities.

· Manage the annual financial statement preparation process and all tax filing requirements for all corporate entities within the group.

· Evaluate and improve corporate internal control processes and procedures with particular focus on vehicle and parts inventory.

· Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

· A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation would be ideal, but is not a requirement.

· Demonstrated experience in an advanced accounting role.

· Experience and a track record of success in leading and organizing a team.

· Significant experience managing cash flow in a cash intensive business.

· Significant experience preparing financial reports and budgets.

· Proven ability to work well with individuals at all levels within an organization.

· A demonstrated ability to work autonomously, think outside-the-box, and to take initiative.

· Significant attention to detail, accuracy and a talent for summarizing details into a format for high level reporting.

· Savvy technology skills including Microsoft Office skills (superior Excel knowledge), Google Suite, and a willingness to learn an automotive dealer management and accounting cloud-based system. Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or PowerBI would be considered an asset.

· A sense of urgency and ability to set and meet deadlines.

· Adaptable to change, eagerness to learn, and passion for the business.

· Experience working in a growing business with multiple corporate entities would be considered an asset.

· Automotive retail experience would be considered a huge asset.

Shift Auto Group is offering an excellent base salary, commission/bonus based on results and full benefits package for the ideal individual. This position is based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
