The Indian Ocean Territories Administration (IOTA) is currently seeking a motivated, professional and suitably qualified person to join our team as the Health Service Manager (HSM) within the Indian Ocean Territories Health Service (IOTHS) based on Christmas Island.

The IOTHS delivers a primary and acute health care service in two of Australia’s most remote and spectacular settings - Christmas Island (CI) and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI). IOTHS includes a 24 hour eight bed hospital and primary care facility on CI and clinics on Home and West Islands in the CKI. The IOTHS is committed to “Working with our communities to keep us healthy for the whole of our lives.”

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide clinical leadership and operational management of the IOTHS;
  2. Develop and maintain a harmonious, multi-disciplinary approach to quality health care in a remote cross-cultural environment;
  3. Ensure all functions of the IOTHS operate in accordance with governance frameworks and budget allocations;
  4. Develop, implement and evaluate the strategic direction of the IOTHS in consultation with the Director, IOTA;
  5. Ensure the maintenance of accreditation standards across all functions of the IOTHS.
Ideal Candidate:

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership and operational management of a health service or similar function including management and reporting of financial, human, physical and intellectual resources; demonstrated experience in managing and implementing clinical and corporate governance systems, including accreditation standards; a proven ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and ensure positive public relations. The candidate will also have a proven ability to lead an organisational culture of customer service, quality health outcomes and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to obtain a security clearance at Baseline Vetting Level (must be an Australian Citizen), hold a current class C Drivers Licence transferable to the Indian Ocean Territories and valid Western Australian Working with Children Check and be subject to a health assessment.
