Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) supports the District Quality Director in the implementation of the Design Quality Management Plan (DQMP) and procedures. He/she provides primary technical support to all team members and field personnel. He/she manages the development and implementation of the DQMP aligned with corporate quality standards and implements processes to prevent quality issues. They will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and conducting the quality assessments in accordance with the DQMP.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Location

This position is based out of our Oakville Canada location with opportunity to work hybrid.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company Quality Management System, work instruction and procedures.
  • Develop a complete understanding of contract, specifications, applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements and client quality expectations.
  • Develop the DQMP, goals, and objectives in alignment with company quality standards.
  • Shall assist with a detailed quality risk evaluation of each discipline.
  • Facilitate the project quality kick-off and pre-job planning meetings, assuring district quality policies and procedures are followed.
  • Promote and maintain effective communications and relations (verbally and in writing and through periodic management meetings) with District management, project management teams, engineering and the client as required.
  • Conduct independent process audits and assessments to verify the team is programmatically following the quality control processes outlined in the DQMP.
  • Monitor subcontractor and supplier quality performance and review documents for compliance with contract quality requirements.
  • Train the project team on the requirements of the DQMP. Ensure processes are deployed and executed.
  • Ensure that quality training is provided for all new-hire personnel.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with client to actively seek feedback and to review the quality of work and effectiveness of the quality plan.
  • Ensure all quality issues are properly reported and classified. Identify and report to management trends in deficient and nonconforming work.
  • Perform causal analysis with the team to develop improvement plans and monitor the solutions for effectiveness.
  • Promote proper execution of project quality processes and procedures.
  • Monitor improvement solutions for effectiveness.
  • Sets clear expectations, assign, and accept responsibility for quality objectives, provide feedback, recognition and enforce accountability.
  • Organize and manage quality records and store per corporate, district and project document management procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Civil or other applicable Engineering with a focus across various infrastructure projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with ability to obtain in other states as the project may require.
  • At least one or more of the quality certifications such as ASQ| CMQ/OE, CSSBB, CQE or CQA
  • 10+ years of years of quality assurance and quality control related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel to project/client sites and as business necessitate.
