Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Data Analyst plays a crucial role in transforming raw data into actionable insights for our organization. Your work will empower decision-makers by providing clear visualizations and reports. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams.

The Data Analyst is a key member of the IT team who collaborates daily with various internal stakeholders of the business while understanding our products and services within the financial services industry and VPI’s place in it. Internally to VPI this also means living VPI’s investment philosophy, our products, our values and supporting our strategic direction.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with business teams to understand requirements and translate them into meaningful visualizations.
  • Metric Definition: Lead the process to define and document the definitions of key metrics required by stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data, identify trends, and uncover patterns to drive informed business decisions.
  • Power BI Development: Leverage Microsoft’s Power BI to create interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Data Modeling: Work with the Senior Data Architect to design and develop data models that effectively support business requirements.
  • Accuracy and Reliability: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data presented in dashboards and reports.
  • Effective Communication: Clearly convey complex data insights to stakeholders.
  • Power BI Adoption: Train and support staff on the use of Power BI
  • Business Intelligence: Contribute to the organization’s data-driven strategy built on Microsoft Fabric.
  • Other miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years working with diverse BI tools, with expertise in Microsoft Power BI. Experience with other components of Microsoft Fabric considered an asset.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Technical Skills:

  • SQL, Nice -To-Have: Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python.
  • Strong knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M (Power Query) scripting languages.
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI).
