Why We're Hiring For This Role

As our client expands and optimize their content sites, they need a dedicated and enthusiastic managing editor to ensure the timely delivery of top-tier advice, reviews, and experiences. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the quality and consistency of the content before it gets published, helping to avoid bottlenecks and backlogs. You'll need meticulous attention to detail and a good understanding of workflows, SEO, and affiliate content creation.

About The Role

As a managing editor, you will support various tasks, including editing, fact-checking, running final grammar and structure checks, and ensuring content meets SEO best practices. You'll communicate with writers and inject a consistent tone and voice into the posts. Ideally, you have experience in content production, are proficient with SEO best practices, and are detail-oriented and efficient.

You'll be part of a fast-paced, small-but-mighty team with ambitious goals. Report directly to the Editorial Operations Manager and Content Manager, and you'll work closely with them to meet the editorial team's goals.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Finalizing and editing content daily to maintain high standards and ensure timely publication.

  • Adding to or rearranging content to meet high standards.

  • Acting as the first point of contact for writers, providing feedback to ensure smooth content flow.

  • Learning what success looks like for this role and understanding the level of editing each piece needs.

  • Communicating via Slack, Asana, and weekly meetings.

  • Contributing to and editing various content assets, from short informational content to long-form buying guides, optimized for maximum ranking results.

  • Overseeing tone and voice across all deliverables, ensuring content is factual, aligned with SEO best practices, valuable, engaging, and entertaining.

  • Leading and educating writers, helping them improve through guidance, education, and self-serve tools.

  • Developing house style rules and utilizing tools like Grammarly to maintain quality.

Who You Are

  • An experienced, friendly, and organized editor in the web publishing industry, capable of expertly editing high volumes of content each month.

  • A strategic and detail-oriented editor with an exceptional grasp of written and spoken English.

  • A citizen of the UK, Ireland, Canada, Belize, New Zealand, or Australia.

  • An excellent communicator, proactive, and able to deliver with urgency.

  • Passionate about content quality, self-motivated, and experienced in affiliate content spaces.

  • Autonomous, confident in recommending new strategies, and opinionated about all aspects of content creation.

  • Experienced in SEO best practices and remote work, comfortable using tools like Slack, Asana, Google Workspace, and WordPress.

Nice to have:

Experience in men's lifestyle content writing or editing.

Background in SEO or content strategy.
