ICI Construction Estimator

Location: Hamilton, ON

The successful candidate will have 8 yrs of experience in estimation with projects including commercial, institutional, renovation, new build, and addition. Ideally living in or close to the Hamilton area.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work independently and with other estimators to prepare accurate and detailed estimates.
  2. Read project specifications and contract documents.
  3. Assist with and prepare the full on-screen quantity take-off of all labour, equipment, and materials as per project specifications using AutoBid Mechanical software.
  4. Receive, review, and enter sub-trade and supplier pricing in a detailed and organized manner using SmartBid software.
  5. Use SmartBid software to post sub-trade and supplier bid invitations.
  6. Prepare the bid package for transfer to Purchasing upon job award.
  7. Prepare detailed billing breakdowns on successful projects.
  8. Attend tender site meetings, deliver tenders; and
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 8 years in an estimation role with a General Contractor
  • Experience with commercial and institutional projects
  • Experience with reading and interpreting large-scale project drawings and bid specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards and codes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, interpersonal and organization skills, and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficient user of MS Office and other software programs.

Compensation: $110K plus benefits
