Senior Accountant

- Work closely with the Corporate Controller and accounting clerks handling the business operations on reserve.
- Review financial records and make the necessary adjustments as needed and present accurate and relevant reports to the Corporate Controller and OIBDC/OIB managers on a timely basis.
- Regularly organize and prepare documents for electronic filing and hardcopy files, and ensure signage for legal docs are completed. Must have understanding of file content and pertinent knowledge of key people and events that would affect those files.
- Document policies and procedure changes.
- Understand and comply with GAAP and ISO 9001.
- Utilize MS Office 2010 with expertise in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Utilize Xyntax including the following modules: payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, financial reporter.
- Review EFT deposits, payroll accruals, benefit and pension administration, WCB reporting, and PEIR reconciliations.
- Review and refine budgets, variance reports, monthly financial reports to management, and other analysis as needed.
- Train staff in the field to enhance the effectiveness of reporting and job satisfaction.
- Familiar with First Nation accounting practices an asset.
- Post-Secondary Education in Accounting or Bookkeeping and/or an Accounting Designation preferred.
- Minimum 5 Years of accounting experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Willing to upgrade skills and take other courses where requested.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook.
- Ideally, a forward planner who critically assesses own performance.
- Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior executives.
- Reliable, tolerant, and determined.
- Well-presented and businesslike.
