Job Description

Mission

We are seeking to hire a Traffic Engineer/Modeller to support our expanding transportation sector in Ontario and work on traffic operational studies, roadway and railway safety reviews, development of guidelines and policy papers, and consultation with different stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of dynamic microsimulation and macrosimulation studies for variety of public sector clients.

You will have the chance to take part in our hybrid work model that includes flexible work hours, working from home and from one of our Ontario offices - Ottawa, Burlington or Toronto.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the transportation project team on traffic operational and safety studies, focusing mainly on traffic modelling projects
  • Undertake variety of technical analysis related to transportation engineering, using tools such as VISSIM, AIMSUN, EMME, VISUM, Synchro, GIS, Microsoft Office Suite, Python, R, etc.
  • Assist in traffic modelling and analysis tasks by working collaboratively with the project team
  • Preparation of technical reports and presentations related to current or prospective projects
  • Lead traffic study projects
  • Prepare stakeholder consultation material and presentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer (P.Eng), or eligible to be licensed within a year
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in transportation engineering field
  • Working experience and knowledge in a broad range of transportation studies, including traffic modelling studies, Transportation Master Plan
  • Advanced knowledge in one of prevailing traffic modelling software such as VISSIM, AIMSUN, SYNCHRO, and EMME
  • Familiarity with Highway Capacity Manual, TAC Geometric Design Guide for Roads, and MUTCD
  • Well-developed written and communication skills with the ability to integrate illustrations and diagrams into written materials to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Strong Microsoft Office suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of a programming language (Python, R, etc.) is an asset
  • Knowledge of travel demand modeling is an asset
