Job Description:

The City of Winkler plays an important role in giving quality of life to our community by providing many services such as water distribution and treatment, infrastructure, recreation, and administration. Our Planning & Infrastructure team is looking for a positive and loyal individual that has a desire and commitment to serve the public by filling the Project Coordinator position.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • To support the Engineering Services department by providing project management support for a variety of projects from construction management to software research and implementation.
  • To investigate operational processes for potential improvements to efficiency and opportunities for innovation

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate, manage and/or oversee a diverse range of municipal projects, including minor to major capital projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify project scope, goals, and deliverables, ensuring successful completion.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resources, and risk assessments, while adhering to public sector contracts and trade agreements applicable to specific projects.
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and milestones to stakeholders and senior management, fostering transparency and alignment.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, addressing issues and providing solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Works to support asset management and data management between departments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registered member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba as an Engineering Intern, or P.Eng., or C.E.T. would be considered an asset, but not required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered a strong asset.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, preferably in a municipal environment.
  • Strong understanding of public sector contracts and trade agreements relevant to municipal projects.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects with varying complexities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, driving them towards project success.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to use discernment, reliable judgment and analytical problem-solving skills, and work in a confidential environment.
  • Detail oriented and ability to compile research and information.
  • Excellent understanding of Municipal Operations and project management from conception to implementation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with a strong knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision and as a team
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work irregular hours when required for completion of project tasks.
