Polar Asset Management Partners an alternative asset manager established in 1991 which manages approximately US$6.5 billion. Polar seeks to hire a Risk Manager to report to the Director of Rates Risk. The successful candidate will have a strong background and experience in trade floor risk management, support, and quantitative research. You will have an opportunity to work closely with the Risk Management Team and Rates/Fixed Income Investment Teams to enhance portfolio analytics using your strong knowledge of market risk and technical skills.
Position Description
- Enhance collaboration between Risk Management, Fixed Income/Rates Investment Teams
- You will:
- support the Director, Rates Risk in regular monitoring and reporting of Interest Rate Risk across the Fund
- maintain and enhance existing tool/applications
- develop new risk analytics that will help guide the efficient deployment of capital
- enhance overall quantitative risk analytics for existing and new strategies
- work with the software development team to test and improve risk analytics applications
- You have:
- experience in global fixed income and rates risk management and markets
- a thorough knowledge of market risk and analytics and overall technical skills
- You are:
- passionate about financial markets, creative, enjoy problem-solving, and are highly motivated
- you are equally comfortable working alone or as part of a wider team and will have the ability to pick up new concepts quickly
Position Requirements
- Bachelor or master’s in finance or a quantitative discipline (math, physics, engineering)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in trade floor support role, trade floor risk management, or quantitative research in the financial services industry
- Communication skills and ability to explain complex finance, programming and mathematical concepts to audiences with varying educational backgrounds
- Strong analytic, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills in finance and mathematics including the ability to use a statistics data analysis platforms
- Knowledge of interest rate curve construction, fixed income instruments, and pricing models (eg. Bonds, Mortgage-backed securities, futures, IR swaps, XCCY swaps, FX forwards, swaptions)
- Strong coding skills
- Fluency in SQL and statistics software such as R, Matlab, and/or Python, including Plotly/Dash platform
- Fluency in Excel VBA
