Position Job Title: IT Technician

Location: University of Niagara Falls Canada (onsite)

Reports To: Manager, Information Technology

Hiring Needs: 2 IT Technicians

Position Overview

This position will report directly to the Manager, Information Technology and will provide overall support to the University of Niagara Falls Canada. Types of support may include maintenance, repair and tech support on a variety of equipment or software used by the university. Main support is for all staff, faculty and student technical support. This position will require a rotation of on call during evenings and weekends to support the university operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring hardware and software components
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware
  • Upgrading systems to enable software compatibility
  • Performing tests and evaluations on software and hardware
  • Offering information and support to users
  • Maintaining relationships with different employees and departments
  • Helping with the onboarding process for new starters
  • Must be able to work a rotating on call schedule that will support evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in Computer Science/IT or a related field
  • A minimum of 1 year of technical support experience servicing computer equipment/users
  • Experience working on computer systems and networks
  • Comp TIA A+, Microsoft Fundamentals and OEM Certifications required
  • Experience supporting Office 365 and VOIP phone systems
  • Experience using an IT Helpdesk ticketing system
  • Proficient in Office 365 products
