The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mine Design Technologist to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

The position will be based in Greater Sudbury (Onaping), Ontario.

This is a full-time unionized position.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation.

Duties and Accountabilities:

The Mine Design Technologist brings together all the key components of mine engineering to design and schedule mining blocks or full mining zones such that they fit into the overall mining plan and are optimized from a cost and production perspective. As well as having a solid knowledge in most of the key tasks within mine engineering the successful incumbent is analytical, innovative, demonstrate initiative and posses leadership skills.

The incumbent will be required to see and have impact on the “big picture”.

About You

Education and Skills

The incumbent must be a graduate of a three-year mining related program at a community college or higher and five years of related experience in the required duties listed above and must have demonstrated leadership and initiative as well as innovative and analytical thinking.

Advanced computer skills are required including the ability to use and create excel spreadsheets and work with Work programs. Advanced skills are required in the use of Computer Aided Design programs (CAMP or others). Advanced organizational and time management skills are required.

The ability to relate to both operations and engineering in a team approach is essential to benefit.
