Employment and Labour Legal Assistant

Our Client, one of the top leaders in the industry, is seeking an Employment and Labour Legal Assistant to join their dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years relevant legal experience with stellar organizational skills. This position will afford you the chance to work closely with some of the best legal professionals in the sector; supportive and friendly nonetheless. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform legal assistant, clerical and administrative duties for two or three lawyers.
  • Communicate with lawyers and clients.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Maintain tickler and bring forward system.
  • Monitor deadlines, send reminders and assist lawyers in preparing and filing timely responses to deadlines.
  • Maintain knowledge and comply with the firm’s practice and file management policies and procedures.
  • Draft, prepare and revise routine correspondence and documents.
  • Assist in preparation of briefs and records for trial and hearings.
  • Organize files and expedite the flow of work.
  • Fax, scan, photocopy and bind documents.
  • Transcribe digital dictation.
  • Prepare files for closing by file clerk.
  • Enter dockets and expense claims as per firm policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience as a legal assistant in labour and employment law.
  • Self-motivated and independent.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong at multitasking, prioritizing and managing time effectively.
  • Committed to a team and goal-oriented environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficientin the use and application of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
