Overview

The Banking & Commodity Tax Sr. Associate is responsible for commodity tax reporting, reconciliations and leading the resolution of gaps to prevent future penalties. This role is also accountable for non-resident withholding taxes and bank reconciliations. The role will closely partner with cross functional partners, government auditors and external consultants. In addition, the Banking & Commodity Tax Sr. Associate will drive business process improvements across all areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Complete periodic bank reconciliations
  • Commodity tax and withholding tax subject matter expert including ownership of reconciliations and
    payment requests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, government and third-party consultants on audits and lead
    the remediation of any identified issues
  • Vertex (commodity tax system) subject matter expert including supporting maintenance, upgrades,
    and implementing business changes
  • Actively participate in SAP implementation project
  • Ad hoc banking and commodity tax requests

Qualifications

  • College Diploma or University degree in Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant student
  • Canadian commodity tax experience
  • Accounting experience including account reconciliations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle and Vertex is an asset
