Job Title: RF Electrical Engineer

Location: Irvine CA (Onsite)

RF Installation (75% of time):

  1. Perform Technical analysis to mitigate EMI and optimize RF equipment and antenna installation
  2. Expertise in Matlab, HFSS, or other EM simulation tool
  3. Support antenna integration design development activities
  4. Assist in RF installation and design of next generation terminal solution
  5. Provide Technical Management of supplier/vendor
  6. 6 or more years of experience in RF installation in aircraft

Requirements Definition (20% of time):

  1. Lead designs and requirements definitions for new aircraft cabin connectivity systems, new system configurations, sub-systems, software and products in support of complex projects and programs requiring extensive investigation and clarification.
  2. Lead documentation of designs and requirements for new systems, new system configurations, sub-systems, software and products in support of inflight connectivity projects and programs.
  3. Lead design reviews of requirements implementation.
  4. Contribute to and support customer proposal development with system definition and functional requirements.
  5. Provide oversight of prototype development of new systems, new system configurations, software and products.

Requirements Communication (5% of time):

  1. Lead the communication of complex system requirements for systems, new system configurations, sub-systems, software and products both internally and externally with the customer.
  2. Lead customer discussions to ensure understanding and communication of the optimal technical solution.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (Preferred):

  1. Experience with satellite communication systems and modems
  2. Understanding of telecommunication and antenna theory; including link budgets and modulation and coding schemes.
  3. Experience with aviation satellite communication system standards such as ARINC 791 for Ka and Ku-band satellite communication
  4. Experience with electronically steered array (ESA) antenna design
  5. Familiarity with environmental qualification of DO-160 devices
  6. Hands on experience in the lab with antennas, modems, routers, RF hardware, and test equipment
  7. Experience with over the air software and digital payload delivery
  8. Experience with design of smart devices with cellular connectivity
  9. Experience with following technologies a plus: Avionics interfaces such as ARINC 429 and discretes, gigabit Ethernet, containers, and virtual machines, OpenAMIP, RESTful APIs, MATLAB, Visio (or similar), a programming language such as Python, Java, and C/C++. 15+ years’ experience in large scale integrated systems.
