Old Toronto, Canada Cultural Human Resources Council Full time

Reporting to and working closely with the Technical Director, the Assistant Technical Director will assist in providing all aspects of technical and production support for all the National Ballet of Canada’s performances, YOU dance, and Special Events. This is a seasonal position for a length of 26 weeks beginning in September 2024 and ending in May 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary activities, responsibilities, and duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

YOU dance and Special Events:
  1. Obtaining technical requirements for all YOU dance activities and all special events
  2. Creating cost estimates and schedules as required
  3. Obtaining equipment and supplies as required
  4. Arranging for and supervising technical crews as required for YOU dance set-ups and events
  5. Providing on-site support to YOU Dance Stage Manager including driving
  6. Providing general production assistance for events and live streams at both the Walter Carsen Centre and the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts
Toronto and Touring Performances:
  1. Assisting in the documenting, record keeping, and data basing of all production information
  2. Assisting in research and obtaining technical information for future productions
  3. Assisting the Technical Director in the day-to-day operations of the production department
Qualifications
  1. Post-secondary education in a technical/production field
  2. Experience working in both unionized and office environments, an asset
  3. Working knowledge of MS Office and knowledge of Vectorworks, an asset
  4. Excellent organizational and communication skills
  5. Knowledge of health and safety legislation in the performance industry
  6. Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment under time constraints
  7. Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required
  8. Class G Drivers License
Working Conditions
  1. Work out of main office, The Walter Carsen Centre, located at 470 Queens Quay West, Toronto
  2. Work out of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, located at 145 Queen Street West, Toronto
  3. Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  4. Must be physically capable to squat and move quickly
  5. Required to drive a vehicle between YOU dance venues
