Fleet Efficiency Manager - Flight OperationsJob Description

Reporting to the Manager, Fleet and Training Efficiency, the Fleet Efficiency Manager is responsible for but not limited to the following functions on their assigned fleet:

  • Coordinate and organize all required activities to ensure efficient student progress through all qualification training courses (e.g., company indoctrination, transition course training, and Differences training etc.) from position award through till qualification. Liaising with the Sim Planner, Rouge Chief Pilot, Rouge Manager, Pilot Qualification and Air Canada Training Manager to ensure efficient progress and adherence to target footprint.
  • Complete load of training plan into Netline after block rollover, ensuring all legalities are met. Create and confirm travel and hotel information for any pilot’s line indoctrination or line checking required for initial, transition or upgrade training as outlined in the CBA.
  • Plan recovery for any missed events due to sickness, ATO’s (Additional Training Opportunities), removal due to legality in co-ordination with Rouge, Manager Pilot Qualifications. Action any changes in Netline required and co-ordinate with Crew Scheduling if necessary.
  • Schedule and track completion of all required recurrent training (CQ, RLCs, ART) to ensure all planned activities are accomplished. Track matrix cycles to ensure they are properly forecasted and completed. Plan recovery for any missed events due to sickness, ATO’s (Additional Training Opportunities), removal due to legality in co-ordination with Rouge, Manager Pilot Qualifications. Submit and monitor extensions from Transport Canada as required for incomplete licensing events.
  • Work with Manager, Fleet & Training Efficiency, and Rouge, Manager Pilot Qualification to monitor and resolve disruptions of the training plan, identified by notification emails from Crew Scheduling.
  • Facilitate the in-class Rouge Differences Course for pilots’ initial transition to the airline.
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective management of day-to-day operations through coordination of any changes in line indoctrination and line checking with crew scheduling.
  • Create necessary PBS planning files (RLCs, TLCs, Line Indoc and Award Status) submitting where required or advising Manager, Fleet and Training Efficiency for PBS Block Awards.
  • Manage Supervisor scheduling including all vacation, days off requests, simulator, line checking, line indoctrination and any other required training events (e.g., Mentors, CPs own recurrent requirements, training for new CPs) ensuring all required activities are covered.
  • Monthly reconciliation and submission to Finance of temporary supervisor and transition training hours for pay computations.
  • Monitor pilots’ FOM and CARs recency. Communicate required action to the pilot and ensure any extensions are coordinated with the Rouge Chief Pilot.
  • Monitor initial and transition pilots’ completion of consolidation on weekly basis and inform Crew Scheduling of any pilot that has completed training but not achieved consolidation. Inform Rouge Manager Pilot Qualification of any pilot at risk of not achieving consolidation.
  • In co-ordination with the Manager, Fleet and Training Efficiency, plan monthly required ART sessions. Ensure Air Canada Administration posts available ART dates for pilots. Schedule ART prior to Monthly Block Closing for Pilots due in current month.
  • Manage expected absences (including GDIP) through coordination with Crew Scheduling. Ensure effective planning and communication of all required training events specified by the Manager, Pilot Qualification and Manager, Fleet and Training Efficiency for pilots who are returning to work from an absence or GDIP, maintaining oversight and coordination that all events are completed prior to the pilot’s return to line operations.
  • Track and document all ATO’s with event details and associated email traffic for the Manager, Pilot Qualifications record keeping.
  • Act as point of contact for external (e.g., Air Canada Mainline employees) and internal (e.g., Rouge Pilots in training or on the line) customers, assisting with questions and feedback, and directing them to appropriate sources.
  • Assuming any additional responsibilities delegated by the Manager, Fleet and Training Efficiency or other members of the Rouge Flight Operations Management Team. Provide coverage for Manager, Fleet and Training Efficiency when required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: University entrance minimum, university or college diploma preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in both written and oral English at an advanced (University Degree equivalent) level.
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, electronic mail efficiently.
  • Corporate SMS training to be completed within six months of appointment.
  • Formal training in HFACs and Risk Assessment should be completed within six months of appointment.
  • Previous experience working with Collective Agreements, Company Policies, and familiarity with Government Regulations regarding Aviation.
  • Previous Scheduling experience a preferred asset
  • Familiarity with Scheduling and Pilot Qualifications programs an asset.
  • Previous Airline and/or Operational experience an asset
