Job Description:

The Product Owner II is responsible to ensure that a development team (pod) is creating value for the organization through the delivery of customer-focused product increments. This entails aligning with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog, managing delivery blockers, and continuously assessing customer feedback. The Product Owner II should always be considering how to maximize value, assessing how the product or the delivery process can be continuously improved, contributing to a positive work environment and ensuring that work embodies the Agile principles of transparency, collaboration, and engagement.

  • Lead or provide expertise to Product Owners/Business System Analysts/Data Analysts/Specialists in defining and managing detailed requirements, operating model, Features/Epics/user stories for Enterprise MDM/C360 platform.
  • Partner with multiple lines of businesses/enterprise functions to understand customer profile related requirements.
  • Collaborate with LOB stakeholders, enterprise functions, Enterprise Data Management Office, 1B teams to ensure detailed requirements are captured by the teams.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness, and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team.
  • Work autonomously as a senior/lead on a diverse range of tasks and is relied upon to coach/educate others.
  • Responsible for defining the requirements for Enterprise Customer MDM/C360.
  • Execute on implementation of the modern, performant, operational, and analytical MDM for the enterprise.
  • Strong experience in Data Quality, Match and Merge concepts, and data analysis.
  • Detail oriented and knowledgeable in the banking space especially in the customer data domain.
  • Has experience working in the MDM (Master Data Management) space.
  • Ability to communicate change effectively with stakeholders and help drive decision making for the enterprise 360 platform from product ownership standpoint.
  • Translating business requirements into Features, Epics, and Stories for the team to execute.
  • Validate that the application requirements meet overall business process needs, are within the project scope, and are internally consistent and integration architecture designs utilize the integration architecture components appropriately.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their customer data needs and translate them into functional data models that align with business processes and objectives.
  • Document and communicate the functional data model to ensure clear understanding and alignment across the project team and stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and efficient implementation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements for data implementation projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Develop and execute validation plans to ensure that implemented data solutions meet business requirements and adhere to quality standards, conducting functional testing and validation against user acceptance criteria.
  • Define operating model for all lines of businesses by collaborating with Enterprise Data Management Office for data stewardship within MDM.

CUSTOMER

  • Partner with management to support the delivery of a product vision.
  • In alignment with the product vision, create and maintain a product backlog and continuously re-prioritize user stories that will provide the most customer or end user value.
  • Continuously align with senior management on the product delivery roadmap, defined Minimum Marketable Features or Minimum Viable Products and release cadence.
  • Review performance analytics; recommend and champion strategies to enhance the customer or end user product experience.
  • Participate in scrum or Kanban events (e.g. stand-ups, retrospectives), express new ideas for improving product value or delivery efficiency, sharing with leadership as appropriate.
  • Proactively engage established business process partners to ensure customers or end users are prepared for application changes and establish Day 2 processes.
  • Create a value-focused product backlog and continuously iterate, ensuring there are user stories scoped and prioritized.
  • Provide user story design, development and completion oversight; accepting/rejecting user stories based on the agreed upon Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Manage delivery initiatives and oversee development team (pod) backlogs.
  • Proactively raise issues that impede the efficient delivery of customer-focused increments.
  • Responsible for defect management and prioritization.

  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for own business area/journey.
  • Ensure ongoing strategic alignment with senior management, providing feedback as appropriate.

  • Lead the submission and discussion on the Quarterly Business Review, with respect to their product.

  • Monitor the regulatory environment and partner with senior management to consider changes to product strategy as needed.
  • Actively coordinate and engage in risk, quality and/or business testing management.
  • Empowered to make product delivery decisions, escalating to senior management as appropriate.
  • Actively communicate to business, technology and senior management regarding product changes and backlog priorities.
  • Single point of escalation for development team, providing guidance and decisioning as needed.

  • Define the OKRs in partnership with numerous stakeholders across the organization.

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree and/or product certificate.
  • 10+ years relevant experience.
  • 5+ years Product Owner or Agile related delivery experience.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications or experience operating in scaled agile delivery considered an asset.
