Design and Drafting Technologist 

The Design and drafting Technologist will primarily be responsible for designing, drafting, and providing technical expertise of mechanical and piping systems in the fuel distribution industry. This is a full-time permanent opportunity working out of our head office in Vaughan, ON.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with the production team in relation to fabrication and construction
  • Understanding design criteria, the scope of work, purchase order, vendor data requirements, and

creating related documents such as system layouts and designs and drawings

  • Generating drawings with Autodesk AutoCAD 2D & 3D such as 3D modeling, general arrangement,

bill of material, plan, sections, shop drawings, and detail drawings

  • Be responsible for the quality of design work performed by self and also of others in the design team
  • Creating lifting lugs, pipe support, isometric drawings, and piping spool drawings complete with

sections and details

  • Design and manage General arrangement of components on specific areas such as skids or enclosures
  • Preparing mechanical components in 3D models and/or 2D with Autodesk AutoCAD or Autodesk

AutoCAD Plant 3D and generating required piping drawings

  • Check drawings and models prior to release
  • Participating in and contributing to design reviews
  • Implemented markups, comments, and redlines on drawings from mechanical and piping teams

Qualifications And Experience

  • BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering design or equivalent
  • Advance profession of Autodesk AutoCAD 3D and Navisworks
  • Knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks is considered an asset
  • Familiar with piping components such as types of valves, fittings, type of connections, pumps, etc.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to complete tasks independently as required
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes related to the mechanical/piping

discipline

  • Computer skills (MS Office package)
  • Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate mechanical activities

between disciplines

  • Knowledge of Piping materials, pipe supports, isometric drawings, and piping spool drawings
  • Knowledge of “Process Flow Diagrams” (PFD) and Piping and Instrument Diagram” (P&ID) is

considered an asset

  • Experience in the fuel industry and manufacturing
  • Potential of design and model structural skids is considered an asset
