YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS CONSTRUCTION SAFETY OFFICER:- Develop and implement safety programs/policies for construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate across departments to promote proactive safety/risk management.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams in the development of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; develop and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices, ensuring company compliance and continuous improvement in safety protocols.
- Facilitate safe work training programs for employees and subcontractors.
- Maintain documentation and records related to safety activities, including incident reports, inspections, and training records.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory authorities to address safety-related matters and participate in relevant industry forums or associations.
- 3+ years in a similar role within heavy construction
- COR certification is mandatory; demonstrated knowledge of construction safety regulations and industry best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees of all levels
- Ability to confidently lead safety training programs
- Solid computer skills; proficiency with spreadsheet software
- Excellent problem-solving skills; a proactive approach to risk management
- Familiarity with incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to construction sites
