MacEwan University is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Environmental for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Infrastructure Planning and Management department.

Reporting to the Director, Planning and Projects, the Senior Project Manager - Environmental is responsible for leading the strategic development, design and construction of complex and/or high-profile capital building projects, infrastructure improvement projects, and strategic university sponsored projects, valued at up to $200M.

You will serve as MacEwan’s internal subject matter expert on environmental regulatory compliance requirements related to the construction of capital building and infrastructure improvement projects and develop and implement processes and practices to ensure ongoing compliance. You will also be a key contributor in the delivery of the university’s master plan.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing project management practices for projects with environmental compliance factors, including defining the scope, goals, and success criteria for the project(s);
  • Establishing and maintaining governance processes to ensure effective decision-making and resource allocation;
  • Evaluating progress, identifying risks and issues, and taking corrective actions as needed, which includes providing regular reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders;
  • Identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with projects that have an environmental impact and/or specific building code requirements; then developing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans, monitoring and reporting on risk levels, and escalating issues or concerns as necessary;
  • Maintaining full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery includes full implementation from initiation to deployment for major and/or high-profile initiatives simultaneously;
  • Mentoring and coaching junior team members and sharing knowledge to support continuous learning and development within the team;
  • Employing project management best practices and methods to ensure work is planned and executed to meet applicable University standards, quality, code, regulatory and stakeholder requirements;
  • Developing a project scope statement as the basis for future project decisions, subdividing major deliverables into manageable subset components and implementing effective project control measures to identify variances from plan;
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, briefing notes, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, and key stakeholders; and
  • Ensuring that projects proceed according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
