Design distributed authentication services for eBay using Java, Spring Boot, REST, and event-driven architecture. Help build cloud-native capabilities.
This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on production-grade backend applications and scalable distributed systems. You will create APIs and microservices supporting Authentication as a Service, extending eBay’s capabilities toward Depop and additional marketplaces. Your work includes architecture, implementation, deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Java and Spring Boot backend services and REST APIs
- Design scalable microservices and distributed system architectures
- Build asynchronous workflows with Google Pub/Sub or Kafka
- Contribute decisions on scalability, security, and fault tolerance
- Own services through design, deployment, and troubleshooting
Requirements:
- Six or more years building production-grade software
- Strong Java experience or willingness to develop in Java
- Backend development experience with RESTful APIs and microservices
- Understanding of event-driven and asynchronous architectures
- Strong problem-solving and independent technical ownership skills
Use Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and event-driven design to shape eBay’s reusable authentication services.
