Embedded C/C++ and autopilot expertise define this on-site Edmonton role with Terrestrial X’s DefTech research and development team. Work directly with real aircraft hardware.
As an Embedded Flight Software Engineer, you will configure ArduPilot or PX4 and develop firmware for STM32, ESP32, and onboard peripherals. You will combine software development with electronics, avionics integration, and practical testing. The work supports integrated, tested systems and reproducible documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, tune, and extend ArduPilot or PX4 on Cube/Pixhawk
- Own flight modes, failsafe logic, and parameter sets
- Write C/C++ firmware for engines, telemetry, payloads, and sensors
- Integrate radios, GNSS, and Linux companions over MAVLink
- Run SITL, HIL, and flight-log analysis before implementing fixes
Requirements:
- Four or more years of embedded C/C++ experience typically expected
- STM32, ESP32, or comparable platform experience with an RTOS
- Hands-on ArduPilot or PX4 configuration, simulation, and flight-log diagnosis
- UART, I²C, SPI, CAN/DroneCAN, and MAVLink knowledge
- Oscilloscope, logic analyser, schematic-reading, soldering, and Git experience
Apply embedded fundamentals, autopilot knowledge, and hardware-debugging discipline to Terrestrial X aircraft systems in Edmonton.
