DPW Laborer – Facilities

The Town of Nantucket’s Department Of Public Works is seeking a dependable and motivated Laborer to join our team. This is a full‑time position responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of Town facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance of Town facilities.
  • Assist with the general upkeep, cleanliness, and safe operation of buildings and facilities.
  • Move, load, unload, and transport materials, equipment, furniture, supplies, and other items as needed.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance, including painting, patching, carpentry, plumbing, and other general facility tasks.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Assist with facility projects, repairs, and maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing thirty (30) pounds or less may be required.
  • Work may require outdoor labor in inclement weather.

Full Time; Benefits; AFSCME Union, M2 position

Starting Hourly Rate: $33.50 (new hires) – $41.67 (employees with 12 years of service with the Town of Nantucket)
