L'Alliance de recherche numérique du Canada (l'Alliance) est à la recherche d'un leader dynamique et visionnaire pour assumer le rôle de président-directeur général ou présidente-directrice générale (PDG). L'Alliance a un mandat ambitieux à remplir, à savoir transformer la manière dont les données de recherche sont organisées, gérées, stockées et utilisées à l'échelle des disciplines universitaires. En collaboration avec des partenaires universitaires, gouvernementaux et de l'industrie, l'Alliance établit la stratégie nationale d'infrastructure de recherche numérique (IRN) du Canada, finance une infrastructure et des services de calibre mondial et dote les chercheurs de la technologie et des outils nécessaires pour stimuler la découverte et l'innovation afin de mener à des résultats à l'échelle nationale et mondiale.

Il s'agit d'une rare occasion de leadership exécutif de façonner l'avenir de la stratégie d'infrastructure de recherche numérique du Canada. Tandis que l'intelligence artificielle, l'informatique quantique et la science ouverte accélèrent la demande de puissance de calcul et de gestion des données, les chercheurs canadiens ont besoin d'outils de pointe, de logiciels spécialisés et d'une infrastructure de calibre mondial pour faire progresser et protéger leurs découvertes, tout en optimisant l'accès à leurs données.

Le gouvernement du Canada a créé la Stratégie canadienne sur la capacité de calcul souveraine pour l'IA, dotée d'une enveloppe de 2 milliards de dollars, dont l'Alliance a reçu 85 millions de dollars à ce jour, en plus du financement des activités nationales en cours. Ces investissements permettront à l'Alliance de renforcer l'infrastructure de calcul informatique de pointe du Canada, d'améliorer les services et de doter les chercheurs canadiens des ressources dont ils ont besoin pour alimenter l'économie du savoir et le leadership mondial du Canada en matière d'IA.

En tant que leader national influent, le prochain ou la prochaine PDG aura l'occasion de:

  • promouvoir la transformation de la stratégie d'infrastructure de recherche numérique du Canada;
  • forger et favoriser de solides partenariats régionaux, pancanadiens et internationaux;
  • diriger une équipe nationale diversifiée et performante ainsi qu'un effectif dispersé;
  • défendre des politiques qui augmentent la capacité de calcul, accélèrent la transformation numérique et soutiennent le leadership du Canada en matière de technologies émergentes;
  • doter les chercheurs des outils, de l'infrastructure et des occasions dont ils ont besoin pour stimuler la découverte, l'innovation et la croissance économique.

Le profil idéal

Le profil idéal est un leader stratégique et inclusif, passionné par la technologie et son rôle dans la promotion de la découverte et de l'innovation au Canada. Cette personne anticipe les tendances émergentes et possède les compétences nécessaires pour cerner de façon collaborative les occasions de positionner le Canada au premier plan du calcul informatique de pointe, de la gestion des données et des technologies comme l'IA et l'informatique quantique.

En tant que leader authentique et axé sur les résultats, cette personne favorise une culture de travail inclusive et performante. Elle excelle dans l'union de partenaires diversifiés et la création d'alliances dans des environnements complexes et multipartites.

Elle apporte une présence crédible et efficace dans le secteur public et les communautés de recherche universitaire, grâce à son leadership influent lui permettant d'articuler et de défendre la vision stratégique et les priorités du domaine de la recherche numérique.

Le prochain ou la prochaine PDG aura accès à une communauté scientifique et de recherche de calibre mondial, offrant une occasion unique d'attirer les meilleurs talents et de bâtir une organisation prête pour l'avenir qui répond aux besoins des chercheurs et des innovateurs canadiens.

La capacité de communiquer efficacement dans les deux langues officielles est un atout, de même que la capacité de se présenter en personne à Ottawa et de voyager partout au Canada et à l'étranger, au besoin, pour appuyer le mandat de l'organisation.
