Construction projet director

YOUR CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Construction Director, the Project Director acts as a strategic and operational leader responsible for the overall performance of the projects under their responsibility. They supervise project managers and site teams, ensure consistency in practices, control risks, costs, and schedules, and act as the escalation point for major issues. They must also be adept at prioritizing tasks. The successful candidate must be able to execute multiple mandates independently, manage priorities effectively, and intervene rigorously in resolving daily challenges. Targeted project profile: relevant experience in the construction of multi-story projects and experience managing projects worth $20 million or more.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Governance and Performance

• Ensure the overall performance of multiple projects (costs, schedule, quality, risks)
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects (bi-monthly)
• Conduct structured weekly project reviews with project managers
• Conduct structured monthly project reviews with management
• Act as an escalation point for major issues (costs, deadlines, contractual)
• Maintain an active presence on the construction site, including weekly visits.

Financial and Contractual Management (Executive Level)

• Oversee budget monitoring and validate monthly cost reports.
• Approve change management and major claims strategies.
• Participate in or lead high-stakes or complex contract negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with billing and cost control practices.

Contract Management, Procurement, Subcontractors, and Suppliers

• Analyze and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Participate in preparing the scope of work for the request for proposals (subcontractor).
• Analyze and approve subcontracts and extras.
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements: subcontracts and client contracts.

Team Management and Development

• Supervise, support, coach, and evaluate project managers Identify training needs and participate in skills development
• Ensure the consistent application of EMD-Batimo methods, procedures, and standards Client and Stakeholder Relations

Client and Stakeholder Relations

• Act as the client's primary point of contact for major issues
• Maintain a proactive and trusting relationship with clients and professionals
• Participate in key strategic meetings and project launches
• Participate in on-site meetings with professionals
• Support project managers during sensitive or conflictual situations

Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management

• Oversee project risk management
• Ensure rigorous handling of non-conformities
• Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and internal standards requirements
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management

Health and Safety (HS) and Compliance

• Monitor health and safety (HS) issues and implement the prevention program.

Strategic Planning and Development

• Participate in the planning of upcoming projects
• Collaborate with management on strategic directions, methods, and innovations

Relevant du directeur construction, le/la directeur(trice) de projets agit comme leader stratégique et opérationnel responsable de la performance global des projets sous sa responsabilité. Il encadre les chargés de projets et les équipes chantier, assure la cohérence des pratiques, la maîtrise des risques, des coûts et des échéanciers, et agit comme point d’escalade pour les enjeux majeurs. Il devra également maîtriser la gestion des priorités.

Le titulaire doit être en mesure d’exécuter plusieurs mandats de façon autonome, de gérer efficacement les priorités et d’intervenir avec rigueur dans la résolution des enjeux quotidiens.

Profil de projets visés

expérience pertinente dans la construction de projets multi-étages et avoir géré des projets de 20 millions et plus.

Gouvernance et performance des projets

• Assurer la performance globale de plusieurs projets (coûts, échéancier, qualité, risques)
• Assurer le suivi des indicateurs clés de performance (KPI) des projets (Bi-mensuel)
• Effectuer des revues hebdomadaires structurées des projets avec les chargés de projet
• Effectuer des revues mensuelles structurées des projets avec la direction
• Agir comme point d’escalade pour les enjeux majeurs (coûts, délais, contractuels)
