Maintain Cando’s primarily diesel-electric locomotive fleet through field repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance. Use mechanical and electrical expertise across rail operations.
This Locomotive Mechanic position supports switching and short line railway services with hands-on equipment servicing. You will diagnose issues, recommend repairs, complete maintenance, and document work performed. The role may require travel away from home and emergency service response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair and recondition locomotives following inspections
- Perform required locomotive and equipment maintenance services
- Interface with Cando operations teams at worksites
- Guide others on daily locomotive servicing requirements
- Care for tools, vehicles, work areas, and equipment
Requirements:
- Five years of heavy industrial equipment experience minimum
- Locomotive electrical and mechanical repair experience is an asset
- Heavy Equipment Technician or Electrician Red Seal is an asset
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload independently
- Willingness to address emergency problems day or night
