Position Summary

Reporting to the IT Director, this hands-on position is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of core infrastructure solutions. The Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing specialized solutions that leverage our technology investment and solve real business problems. In addition to this, they will control, test and maintain core and related systems, as required. This position will lead or be a member of significant infrastructure projects necessary for the fulfilment of business objectives. This is an exciting role in building strong technology foundations for Savaria's growing global business. This position will be on site at 2 Walker Drive, Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

 

Essential Duties and Requirements

· Implement, manage, and troubleshoot core systems, applications, and network issues.

· Supervision and coordination of IT projects in conjunction with team management, business stake holders and outside vendors.

· Provide general core infrastructure support and assistance. 

· Assist in the development and maintenance of Business continuity planning, implementation, and testing.

· Support the IT team as assigned by the IT Director.

· Assist in the resolution of escalated support desk tickets.

· Documentation of IT processes, procedures, systems, and incidents as appropriate.

· Ensure operational compliance within departmental standards and general industry best practice.

 

Mindset, Skills & Education

· Cabling, Firewall, Storage, Network infrastructure standards & best practices

· Cloud technology experience with an emphasis in Azure

· Systems Administration, Troubleshooting and Management

· Skilled in Windows Server 2008-2022 Implementation, Troubleshooting & Management

· Hyper-V & VMWare Virtualization technologies

· Microsoft and Azure Active Directory

· Terminal Services

· Security Best Practices

· Meraki, Cisco, Ubiquity networking skills

· Project Management

· Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role

· Manufacturing environment experience

· Occasional National & International Travel

· Candidates with current certifications will be preferred

· Work non-standard work hours when required

· Self-motivated, proactive multitasker in a busy multi-site environment

· Demonstrated ability to operate independently when required

· Strong verbal and writing skills

· Good listener and excellent inter-personal communication skills

· Ability to lift 50lbs

· Calm under pressure
