Otherwise known as Smart HomesRole Summary: We are seeking a skilled Field Technician who is ready to pivot into the precision world of home automation. In this role, you will lead the backbone of our projects—handling all data, low voltage, and pre-wire requirements. You won’t just be pulling wire; you will be laying the infrastructure for advanced Audio/Visual, Security, Lighting Control, and Network systems.This position is ideal for someone who appreciates the technical nuance of low-voltage systems and wants to work at the cutting edge of smart home technology.Key Responsibilities1. Infrastructure & Pre-Wire (Rough-In):Execute comprehensive low-voltage rough-ins for residential projects, including CAT6/7 data, RG6 coax, speaker wire, and proprietary lighting control cabling.Interpret complex AV and electrical schematics to ensure precise drop locations for TVs, touch panels, sensors, and rack locations.Collaborate with site supers and other trades to ensure pathways (conduit/smurf tube) are installed correctly before drywall.2. Trim-Out & Termination:Terminate and label structured media panels and server racks with high precision and cable management standards (Velcro, lacing bars).Install and terminate end-points, including WAPs (Wireless Access Points), IP cameras, keypads, and in-ceiling/in-wall speakers.Test and verify all cable runs using certification tools (Fluke/Klein) to ensure signal integrity prior to equipment installation.3. Technical Troubleshooting:Troubleshoot grounding issues, signal interference, or connectivity problems within the structured wiring ecosystem.Bridge the gap between line-voltage requirements (outlets/power) and low-voltage needs (drivers/transformers) for motorized shades and lighting.QualificationsExperience:Proven experience in residential wiring and blueprint reading, 3+ years.Prior exposure to low voltage (security, fire, or data) is a strong asset, but we are willing to train the right professional.Skills:Meticulous cable management skills (we prize clean racks and panels).Comfortable using varied hand tools, drills, fish tape, and tone/probe kits.Strong understanding of signal flow and network topology is a plus.Requirements:Valid Driver’s License and a clean abstract.Ability to work at heights (ladders/scaffolding) and in confined spaces (attics/crawl spaces).Why Join Us?Future-Proof Skills: Transition your knowledge into the booming IoT and Home Automation sector.Clean & Technical Work: Less heavy-duty conduit bending; more precision termination and system logic.
