Your new role

We are currently seeking an Technology & Innovation Autonomous Project Lead (EIT or Engineer)- to join our client’s operations in Sudbury, ON. This is a temporary, 12 months contract opportunity, with possibility of extension and the incumbent will be working Monday to Friday.

The purpose of the autonomous project lead is to:

  • Contribute to the success of Vale Operations by leveraging Autonomous Technology and execution of Autonomous Program initiatives to help the business achieve its strategic objectives.
  • Perform project management activities (planning, coordination, reporting) for assigned mining technology projects.
  • Support project development and site support.
  • Perform operational execution activities as required for target execution.
  • Be a focal point for operational matters related to autonomous technology, providing strategic insights and technical expertise to drive innovation and efficiency in our organization.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Mine Technology and Innovation Manager.

  • Oversee the development of the project under the supervision of a senior project leader.
  • Facilitate team collaboration and communication.
  • Develop project plans, including defining deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
  • Execution & reporting of autonomous technology projects.
  • Accurately document the project's creation, development, and execution as well as documenting the project's scope, budget, and justification.
  • Creation and delivery of communication material including:
  • Overall progress and health of projects
  • Status of milestones and deliverables
  • Financial information
  • Project risks and mitigation progress
  • Manage and continuously evaluate projects to ensure its adherence to schedule, budget and scope.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project, including the management of risks, issues and project scope.
  • Provide technical knowledge for Autonomous and Tele-remote equipment, features, and implementation infrastructure requirements.
  • Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams including operations, OEMs, Collaborations, and Autonomous program 3rd party consultants.
  • Perform other tasks to support senior project leader.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering (mining, mechanical, robotics, electrical), Information Technology, Computer Sciences, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer Designation is an asset
  • Underground Mining experience is an asset.
  • Proven project management experience using standard project management methodologies is an asset.
  • Demonstrated communication skills
