Instrumentation Engineer

Agilus is recruiting for a Owner's Representative Engineer - Instrumentation in the refinery industry in Gibbons, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

• Support/advise project specific EPC engineers in all key areas of instrumentation technology, including the sizing and selection of flow, level, temperature, pressure measurement devices, valves (on/ff, control, PSV) and analyzers/fire and gas detection, and SIS related instrumentation and controls.
• Participate in all Project related Squad Checks, and provide comments to Engineering Work
• Collaborate with PSM and SIS specialists in reviewing Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), LOPA and plant HAZOPs;
• Collaborate with Fire and Gas SMEs in reviewing changes to the plant’s F&G Safety System;
• Provide active support for the implementation of instrumentation scope during turnarounds, short notice outages or on-the-run;
• Participates in field walks and completion walks. Takes part in redlining exercise as well as reviewing turnover documents and responding to RFIs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Registered as Professional Engineer with APEGA or equivalent;
• 10 years of experience or more in an operating plant, refinery preferred; maintenance experience is an asset;
• Sound knowledge of codes and standards related to instrumentation including IEC 61511, CSA, NFPA, PIP, ISA, etc., and knowledge of flow measurement standards (AGA, API, ASME etc.);
• Previous design and troubleshooting experience of various analyzers systems including sample handling systems, lag time calculations and sample probes;
• Demonstrated experience of working effectively and collaboratively within cross-functional teams;
• Previous experience leading technical reviews to ensure instrumentation meets design specifications, codes and standards;
