On-Site Janitor The On-Site Janitors will be required to live on-site and his/her duties will include, but will not be limited to: Cleaning the building's common areas by vacuuming carpeted areas, mopping tiled floors, washing windows, cleaning laundry rooms and bathroomsConducting the visual check of the fire safety system and assisting in cases of fire alarmsRemoving garbage from garbage collection rooms for collectionShowing apartments to prospective tenantsAssisting with lock-outsNotifying the Property Manager of required repairs and reporting vandalismMaintaining general security of the buildingChecking Door Closures monthlyPosting noticesContacting the Property Manager, on-call staff or contractors, as required, in the event of an emergencyApplicants will have: The ability to understand simple oral and written instructionsA good knowledge of building cleaning and grounds keeping techniquesA good knowledge of the use of tools and equipment required to perform the functions of the positionExcellent customer service and interpersonal skillsApplicants will be required to provide a current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance.Compensation: The On-Site Janitors will be required to live on-site and will be provided a unit within the building for themselves and their family. Compensation will therefore be rent-free accommodation which will be valued in accordance with the Income Tax regulations and which will include heat, hydro, water and telephone (excluding personal long distance calls). No regular wages will be paid. (Note: Any additional duties performed not included in the above listing will be compensated at an hourly rate of $17.51.) Hours of work: 3 hours/day, 7 days/week - one week on, one week off.During your week on, you will be on-call 24/7 including weekends.This is a perfect part-time position for an individual or couple who are looking to supplement their income. Conditions of Employment All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process. Prior to the start date, the successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected.
