Commercial Litigation Lawyer (Bankruptcy and Insolvency)Job descriptionOur client, a prominent full-service law firm with multiple offices throughout Ontario, is seeking to expand their team by adding a Commercial Litigator with over 8 years of experience specializing in Bankruptcy and Insolvency matters.Your new roleIn this role, you will gain extensive experience in financial reorganizations, debt restructurings, general commercial litigation, and matters involving debtor and creditor rights. Responsibilities include handling security enforcement, forbearance and standstill arrangements, receiverships, and related matters on behalf of financial institutions, court-appointed and private receivers, interim receivers, and liquidators. You will act on behalf of monitors under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and represent various stakeholders, including trustees in bankruptcy, landlords, suppliers, corporate and individual borrowers, and other parties.You will also provide advice and representation to trustees in bankruptcy, working on large-scale transactions at various stages of bankruptcy proceedings. This role requires an understanding of accounting and financial considerations that impact restructuring transactions. Additionally, you will be involved in incorporations, corporate reorganizations, and general commercial litigation matters as needed.What you will need to succeedTo be considered for this position, you must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in secured and unsecured debt collection, security vetting, and demonstrated expertise in bankruptcy proceedings, court-appointed and privately appointed receiverships, crisis management, and debt recovery. Strong teamwork skills, trustworthiness, accountability, and a proactive, positive attitude are essential for success in this role.You should bring confidence and sharp legal acumen to your work, thriving on the challenge and satisfaction of achieving successful outcomes for your clients.
