Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 37 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.The RoleReporting to the Category Manager, the Assistant Buyer, is responsible to provide assistance and support to the Buying team of the assigned category by coordinating closely with other internal departments and external suppliers from local and overseas, generating and analyzing performance data, reports, following up on various project timelines, actions required, marketing POPs and other matters related to the assigned product category.Major ResponsibilitiesAssist buying team to communicate and follow up with the local and overseas vendors of the products category assignedLiaise with internal departments and various stores on promotional campaigns, marketing materials, project timelines, follow up actions and other matters related to various product launchGenerate periodic or ad hoc reports timely and accurately that are related to store sales, inventory, category and special eventProvide data analysis, administrative, clerical support and other duties or tasks as assigned by the superiorResponsible for preparing marketing and promotion materials which include translating messages in both English and Chinese.Knowledge, Skills and Ability RequirementsCompleted post-secondary education in Business, Marketing or other related disciplinesPossess good knowledge, passion and awareness in Asian Grocery products is strongly preferredStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an assetAble to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a teamAbility to prioritize and deliver multiple assignments promptly and accuratelySome experience on handling overseas suppliers will be an assetAdvanced knowledge in MS Excel; proficient in MS Word and OutlookEmployee BenefitLife/AD&D insuranceExtended health/dental/vision careRetirement benefitPaid annual/sick/marriage/bereavement leaveSubsidized staff mealIn-store staff purchase discount
