Summary Assist the Front Store Manager (FSM) in managing the human, physical and financial resources of the Food department to ensure departmental and store objectives are achieved. Key Responsibilities Model best practice customer service across the store. Manage daily operational resources (human, physical, financial) of the Food department following Store Standards. Set goals and objectives for the Food department in collaboration with the FSM. Order product and maintain balanced inventory with the FSM. Achieve shrink initiatives (rotating stock, removing discontinued product, pricing strategy). Ensure correct pricing and ticketing of merchandise. Meet food safety standards and complete the FoodWise handling certified course. Complete tasks in a timely fashion. Provide exceptional customer service beyond expectation. Assist FSM to implement all product‑related processes effectively. Answer inquiries and resolve complaints according to guidelines. Demonstrate product knowledge and familiarity with product location. Empower employees to ensure customer satisfaction. Ensure employees present proper image per Uniform Policy and Dress Code Guidelines. Spotlight new or exclusive products at daily huddles. Adhere to marketing programs and initiatives (price management, planograms, flyer implementation). Ensure signage reflects current programs, policies and procedures. Create and maintain displays for seasonal/promotional programs and manage set‑up and take‑down schedules. Maintain store image standards as outlined in Operating Standards. Order stock in absence of the FSM. Comply with Human Resources Standards, help with hiring (excluding Pharmacy) and wage administration. Drive Blue Culture, engagement, and motivate staff through core values. Assist in achieving projected sales growth and reduce shrink and damages. Comply with all health and safety regulations, store policies and procedures, and loss‑prevention policies. Maintain confidentiality regarding franchise operations. Ensure Store Standards are followed. Support all department employees and non‑Rx parties within the store. Provide direction under FSM guidance. Qualifications Independent thinker able to make decisions when the FSM is not available; consult for significant changes. Ability to plan, coordinate, delegate assignments and coach employees. Experience with inventory management, monitoring service levels, and developing clearance strategies. Knowledge of purchasing, pricing, and financial analysis in a fresh retail department. Understanding of applicable legislation (Food Premises Regulation, OHSA, etc.). Demonstrated ability to drive business and lead by example. Supports all Corporate programs within the business. Ability to prioritize quickly in response to changing initiatives. Effective interpersonal, coaching and supervisory skills. Superior time‑management, communication and organization skills. Computer literacy. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Previous retail work experience specific to produce, cold deli, hot deli, and/or meat.
