We have an immediate opening and are excited to find the right candidate to join our team. Safe Software is looking for a

Senior Software Developer

to join our Form team. As a Senior Software Developer, you will drive scalable, maintainable solutions; shape cross-team architecture and practices; and coach and empower other developers. This role has a strong security focus: hardening FME Form against memory-safety and dependency risk, and raising the security bar of the codebase and the team that works in it.

About The Team As part of the FME Form product group, you'll join a group of collaborative development teams composed of team leaders, developers, quality analysts, and student interns who work together as a team and alongside product managers and user experience designers, on complex technical projects that provide direct value to our users.

As a part of this close-knit and diverse team, you will work together with internal stakeholders to maintain and extend our flagship FME Form products that delight customers and empower them to author dataflows that can be shared, reused, and integrated with the FME Platform.

What You'll Be Doing As a Senior Software Developer, you will:

Harden all areas of FME Form to be security sensitive. For example, eliminating classes of memory-safety defects rather than individual bugs

Build and own the tooling that finds problems early: fuzzing harnesses, sanitizer and static analysis coverage, and compiler/runtime hardening in our build pipeline

Drive, advocate and review threat modeling on shipped and upcoming features, and triage incoming vulnerability reports: assessing severity, scoping impact, and driving remediation

Architect and guide the implementation of complex, high-impact product features and systems

Lead cross-team technical initiatives, collaborating across departments to align on solutions and priorities

Provide technical mentorship and coach to developers across all levels, promoting secure-coding skill development and knowledge sharing

Champion best practices in software architecture, testing, security, and performance

Identify and lead efforts to address technical debt, system reliability, and process improvements

Represent technical and security perspectives in product planning, working closely with Product Management and UX

Provide expert input during code and design reviews, ensuring high quality and maintainability

Contribute to the evolution of Safe's development culture, standards, and tooling strategy

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies Safers come from a variety of backgrounds with a diversity in skills and knowledge. That said, we find that those who are most successful in this role have experience with the following areas.

What We're Looking For:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Experience:

7+ years of professional software development experience, including technical leadership of complex projects and systems

Technical Expertise:

Advanced proficiency in C++ for core system development; Python skills specifically for automation and scripting; architectural design, debugging, and optimization in large, complex codebases. Threat modeling (e.g. STRIDE and/or DREAD) on shipped features, and CVSS v4.0 scoring

Product Security:

Demonstrated ownership of security-relevant code and the tooling that finds them: fuzzing, sanitizers, static analysis, SAST/DAST, and hardening; ability to triage and communicate vulnerability severity (CVSS, CWE)

Experience with A.I. coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)

Influential communicator and mentor; able to align teams, foster collaboration, and lead through change

Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities, and with making pragmatic risk tradeoffs

Strategic thinker with a systems-level perspective; proactive in identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement; skilled at balancing technical depth with business context

Nice to Have:

SBOM generation and third-party vulnerability management at scale

Familiarity with industry frameworks and references such as OWASP and MITRE

Relevant certifications (e.g. OSED, OSCE, GXPN, SANS SEC661/SEC760, CSSLP)

Familiarity with Safe Software's core technology areas or similar technical domains

Experience with different operating systems (e.g. macOS, Linux)

Experience building desktop applications using the Qt Framework, specifically Qt Widgets
