OverviewFamily Physician, Ravensview role at Homewood Health Centre. Homewood Ravensview is a private 75-bed in-patient mental health, trauma and addiction facility offering evidence-based, medically led inpatient services. Located in North Saanich on Vancouver Island, on 28 acres of forested hillside with ocean views. A collaborative environment with an interdisciplinary team including nurses, dietitians, social workers, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, and horticulture therapists. The physician will provide clinical care to patients as they engage in their recovery journey.Homewood Ravensview is part of a national leader in mental health and addictions treatment in Canada, delivering evidence-based treatments and superior outcomes.What You’ll Be DoingProvide medical care for inpatients 2–5 days per week on a consultant basis (not MRP), for routine physical assessments and addressing general medical concerns. Expected patient volume is approximately 1–2 per hour.No on-call or after-hours commitment required.Collaborate with physicians, nurses and allied health professionals within an interdisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient care.Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided).Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissions.Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained.Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences.Complete and submit MSP billings in a timely manner.Liaise with third-party referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC, provincial workers compensation boards, employers).What We Are Looking ForDegree in Medicine and a license, in good standing, to practice medicine in BC.Registration with CFPC and CPSBC.Mental health or addiction medicine experience is valued but not required.Adept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organization.Faculty appointment preferred – experience in working with medical students and residents.Ability to inspire others to be accountable through action, decisions and/or communication.Strong ability to build exceptional relationships with clients, patients, customers, and colleagues.Strong negotiation and influence skills with proven critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving abilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Highly developed organizational and time-management skills.Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital.Additional InformationAs part of our commitment to health and safety, Homewood Ravensview requires that all staff have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada, subject to applicable accommodations.Pay rates are tailored to reflect differences in operating environments and job requirements.
