Retail Insights and Category Strategy ManagerJoin to apply for the Retail Insights and Category Strategy Manager role at SNDL Inc.About the RoleAs Retail Insights & Category Strategy Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping SNDL’s cannabis retail strategy across our network of 230+ Value Buds and Spiritleaf stores. Reporting to the Senior Director, Category Strategy, you’ll partner closely with Category Managers and cross‑functional teams to unlock deeper understanding of business performance, identify growth opportunities, and enable data‑driven category management.This is a hybrid role (3 days in‑office per week) based out of SNDL’s Toronto office (49 Spadina Ave).Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness insights and strategic analysis (50%)Conduct deep dives across a variety of data sources (e.g., transactional, customer loyalty, third‑party) to explain business drivers and identify trends.Monitor market data and competitive dynamics to inform strategic positioning and uncover whitespace opportunities.Develop business cases for strategic opportunities (e.g., major promotions, loyalty program investment, innovation product launch) to enable effective leadership decision‑making.Performance reporting (30%)Produce recurring (e.g., weekly sales and margin, monthly business review) and ad hoc reporting for a variety of audiences to elicit business performance and associated drivers.Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with business needs.Collaborate with Technology/BI teams to define reporting requirements, test new data tools, and drive adoption by business teams.Category strategy support and enablement (20%)Establish and monitor core and emergent category performance KPIs.Translate complex data into compelling stories and actionable insights to influence category decision‑making.Support the development and implementation of category strategy frameworks (e.g., store‑level pricing and assortment optimization).Key QualificationsAt least 3‑5 years of experience in insights, analytics, and/or strategy‑focused role in a retail, category, and/or merchandising context.Exceptional data fluency, Excel skills, and an analytical mindset; ability to extract, analyze, and summarize data from a variety of sources.Financial acumen; understanding of financial metrics and how they relate to retail performance.Customer‑focused; see customers as core to what we do.Critical and strategic thinking; tackle complex and ambiguous customer and business problems.Effective communication and synthesis; present findings and recommendations, storytelling and presenting skills.Strong intangibles – time management, problem‑solving, critical thinking, detail orientation, and ability to work independently.Bonus QualificationsExperience in cannabis, retail, and/or consumer‑packaged goods (CPG).Familiarity with building custom reporting in Power BI.Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and Dynamics 365.Why Join Us?Be part of one of the largest cannabis retail operations in North America.Work with a passionate and entrepreneurial leadership team shaping the future of cannabis retail.Competitive compensation package, performance bonuses, and benefits.Opportunities for career advancement in a fast‑scaling organization.About SNDLSNDL is one of Canada’s leading and fastest‑growing liquor and cannabis companies.
