SXFN is a First Nation Government, located approximately 86 KM southeast of Williams Lake. Our nearest urban centers are Williams Lake, 100 Mile House and Clinton, BC. We have 800+ members, approximately 1/3 live in the communities of Canoe Creek (Stswecem'c) and Dog Creek (Xget'tem). As a First Nation Government we oversee all aspects of governance, our Chief and Council are made up of 6 members, we have a staff that oversee Education (which includes Headstart, Rosie Seymour Elementary School, elementary & high school, post secondary), Social Development, Children and Families, Capital Infrastructure (which includes Housing and Operations and Maintenance), Treaty, Health & Wellness, Administration/Finance. Role Description The Finance Director contributes to the overall success of the organization by providing financial planning, statutory and compliance reporting, investment management, budget management, risk management, and general administration for the Finance Department. He/she promotes the achievement of the goals and objectives of the employees by helping them understand financial information, providing accurate, concise information and providing input to all planning cycles, developing financial policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls are present and building future financial needs for the organization. Qualifications Proficiency in Financial Planning and Financial Statements Strong Analytical Skills with a focus on evaluating financial data and offering actionable insights Thorough knowledge of Finance and Financial Reporting Proven leadership and team management skills Strong communication and decision‑making abilities Post‑secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is highly desirable Experience in managing financial operations in a First Nations environment (fund accounting) Conditions of Employment Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records check Must have and maintain a valid BC Driver's License Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program requirements Must reside in the geographic region of Williams Lake, 100 Mile House; as travel out to the communities will be required from time to time. Will have access to work from our urban office in Williams Lake.
