Senior Resident Engineer

Position OverviewOur client is delivering a large civil infrastructure project involving extensive earthworks, structures, temporary works, and phased civil execution. Early construction activity is underway with temporary works and site facilities in place. The main construction phase is scheduled to ramp up early next year.They are seeking a Senior Civil Field Engineer to provide lead field oversight, technical coordination, and engineering support throughout the project. This project will be based on Vancouver Island. This will be FIFO for anyone not based there who cannot relocate.Further Responsibilities Include the FollowingProvide resident engineering support during heavy civil and structural construction activitiesInterpret engineering drawings and specifications, issuing clarifications and resolving field queriesMonitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with design intent, quality standards, and technical requirementsSupport planning, review, and coordination of temporary works, excavation, foundations, and structural elementsParticipate in daily and weekly construction coordination meetingsReview and verify non-conformances, site instructions, field changes, and contractor submittalsAssist with sequencing discussions, schedule reviews, and risk identificationCoordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams as the project phases progressProvide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers on siteIdeal Candidate RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related disciplineProfessional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC)Significant experience overseeing heavy civil, industrial, or infrastructure construction projectsStrong understanding of rock excavation, rock support, excavation, foundations, concrete works, and structural elementsDemonstrated ability to interpret and apply engineering documentation in the field (ideally civil and geotechnical)Experienced in contractor coordination and field decision-makingExcellent communication skills and steady leadership presence in a site environmentFlexible to work extended schedules or rotation-based work periods during peak construction timesWhy This FirmMulti-year, stable construction assignment with significant civil scopeEmployee role with benefits throughout the duration of the projectFlexible rotation options (e.g., 5–6 day weeks or FIFO-style rotations)Travel time paid within daily maximumsAccommodation support available for those temporarily relocating and per diems providedOpportunity to work with a technically strong site engineering teamInterested candidates are encouraged to send their resume in word format to this posting or email christopher.phillips@torustalent.com.
