EnviCore is committed to innovation and sustainability, contributing to advancements in environmentally responsible construction practices.Role OverviewEnviCore is seeking a Finance Operations Accountant to support financial operations, enforce approval controls, and provide hands-on financial modeling and analytical support to the CEO. This role is responsible for maintaining clean, audit-ready financial records and preparing decision-grade financial analysis for management, board, and investor discussions.Key Objectives of the RoleMaintain strong financial hygiene and documentationEnforce approval, spending, and expense policiesProvide accurate, timely financial analysis to support strategic decisionsImprove board, investor, and grant-reporting readinessReduce execution burden on the CEO without diluting financial controlCore Responsibilities1. Financial Operations & Accounting SupportOwn the full month-end close process (journal entries, accruals, amortization, reconciliations)Review, validate, and process vendor invoicesEnsure all invoices and expenses are supported by complete and compliant documentationCode and record transactions accurately in QuickBooks OnlinePerform monthly credit card and bank reconciliationsMaintain organized, audit-ready financial records and supporting filesCoordinate with external accountants, bookkeepers, or auditors as required2. Approval & Governance EnforcementEnforce EnviCore’s expense, travel, procurement, and approval policiesAct as first-line review for all invoices and expense submissionsReject or return incomplete, non-compliant, or improperly documented itemsPrepare structured approval packages for CEO review and sign-offMaintain approval logs, exception logs, and spending trackersFlag policy deviations and financial risks proactively3. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)Build and maintain:Cash runway and burn-rate modelsRolling 6-, 12-, and 18-month cash forecastsScenario and sensitivity analysesSupport financial modeling for:Pilot and demonstration projectsFOAK and commercial plant economicsGrant budgets and cost trackingAssist with pricing, cost, and margin analyses as requiredPrepare financial matrices and summaries for board and management discussions4. Board, Investor & Grant SupportPrepare monthly and quarterly financial snapshotsDraft financial slides and tables for board presentations (CEO finalizes)Support investor diligence by providing accurate financial data and analysisTrack grant budgets, expenditures, and reporting requirementsAssist with grant claims, audits, and compliance documentationMaintain calendars and trackers for financial reporting obligations5. Systems, Process & Continuous ImprovementImprove financial workflows, templates, and documentation standardsHelp implement and maintain approval and tracking systemsEnsure financial data integrity across tools and reportsRecommend improvements to internal controls as the company scalesAuthority & GovernanceThis role operates within a clearly defined governance framework:No payment authorityNo contract signing authorityNo expense approval authorityNo independent budget authorityAll financial approvals, payments, and commitments require explicit CEO sign-off.Required Qualifications3-4 years of progressive accounting experience with responsibility for full cycle accounting, capital asset management, and cash flow managementStartups, cleantech, engineering, or project-based environmentsExcellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skillsStrong proficiency in Excel and financial modelingHands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or similar systemsExperience preparing financial materials for senior management or boardsStrong attention to detail and documentation disciplinePreferred QualificationsCPA designation (or working toward completion) considered an assetExperience with government grantsExposure to venture-backed companies or fundraising environmentsMulti-entity or project-based financial tracking experienceFamiliarity with audit and diligence processesKey Competencies & AttributesHigh integrity and comfort enforcing policies without positional authorityStructured, detail-oriented, and process-drivenAble to translate complex data into clear financial insightsComfortable working directly with a CEO in a fast-paced environmentPragmatic, hands-on, and execution-focusedStrong written and verbal communication skills
