As part of a growing and dynamic commercial team, the Commercial Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for underwriting CMHC-insured and conventional commercial mortgages. The Underwriter must adhere to established policies and underwriting standards, meeting compliance and control requirements, while finding creative solutions in a timely manner in order to achieve service goals as well as annual target volumes. Additional credit-related and administrative duties are also required, such as reporting and pipeline management, as well as networking with external business partners along with various staff within the Commercial department & other internal departments. Elle devra respecter les politiques et les normes de souscription etablies, ainsi que les exigences de conformite et de controle, tout en trouvant des solutions novatrices rapidement afin datteindre les objectifs de service et les volumes cibles annuels. Dautres taches administratives et liees au credit sont egalement requises, comme la production de rapports et la gestion des dossiers, ainsi que le reseautage avec des partenaires commerciaux externes et divers membres du personnel du Financement commercial et dautres services internes.   • On a daily basis, the incumbent will analyze and underwrite commercial credit facilities together with additional credit related and administrative duties for all mortgage product types. Attention must be made to ensure that compliance with the companys established lending guidelines and procedures are followed with recommendations submitted for approval to management. The incumbent is responsible to ensure all lending criteria have been satisfied on deals underwritten and outstanding documentation/conditions, if any, are being met in a timely manner (60%)
  • On a daily basis, the incumbent will communicate with external contacts (origination partners) and internal contacts (funders, managers, administrators and commercial mortgage sales staff) to ensure transactions are processed in a timely and efficient manner in order to deliver superior customer service and funding deadlines (20%)
  • On a daily basis, the incumbent is responsible for time management of their deal flow in order to meet prescribed deadlines (10%)
  • On a monthly basis, the incumbent will be responsible for various administrative and reporting duties required for the department/company which will be relied upon by Senior Management (10%)
  • Consacrer quotidiennement 60 % de son temps a lanalyse et la souscription des facilites de credit commerciales et aux taches administratives et liees au credit pour tous les types de produits hypothecaires sur une base quotidienne. Sassurer aussi que tous les criteres de pret ont ete satisfaits pour les transactions souscrites et, le cas echeant, que les documents manquants sont fournis ou que les conditions restantes sont remplies en temps opportun, tout en traitant les avances de fonds conformement aux autorisations de credit
  • Consacrer quotidiennement 20 % de son temps a la communication avec des contacts externes (partenaires a lemission) et internes (bailleurs de fonds, gestionnaires, administrateurs et personnel de vente de prets hypothecaires commerciaux) pour que les transactions soient traitees rapidement et efficacement afin doffrir un service a la clientele superieur et de respecter les echeances de financement
  • Consacrer quotidiennement 10 % de son temps a la gestion du temps de son flux de transactions afin de respecter les delais prescrits
  • Consacrer quotidiennement 10 % de son temps a diverses taches administratives et de production de rapports requises par le service ou lorganisation, sur lesquelles compte la haute direction

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered a key skill set
  • Proficient underwriting skills preferably with a minimum 2 years commercial mortgage experience and/or SFR underwriting experience
  • Demonstrated service excellence within their field
  • Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferred , preferably in business or finance
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel)
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong business sense combined with sound technical knowledge of secured lending and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market
  • Established organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability and desire to attend industry-related events as required
  • Le bilinguisme (francais/anglais) est un atout
  • Maitrise de la souscription, et de preference au moins 3 annees dexperience dans le domaine des prets hypothecaires commerciaux
  • Excellence du service demontree dans son domaine
  • Diplome detudes postsecondaires de preference, surtout en administration des affaires ou en finance
  • Bonne connaissance pratique de MS Office (principalement Word et Excel)
  • Competences efficaces en matiere danalyse et de resolution de problemes
  • Sens aigu des affaires combine a une solide connaissance technique des prets garantis et des facteurs influant sur le marche hypothecaire commercial
  • Solide sens de lorganisation
