The practice includes ambulatory care time, a dietitian, existing clerical staff, a family practice nurse, nurse practitioner, MedAccess EMR and social worker, all working collaboratively to meet the needs of the patient population. In addition to office-based responsibilities, there is the opportunity to take on hospital inpatient work, which is low acuity and compensated through the CHIP program. This inpatient work offers excellent remuneration and provides an opportunity for those looking to expand their scope of practice beyond the office setting.Job DescriptionNorthside General Collaborative Practice is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage for the following dates:March 9 to 18, 2026Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices, including inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.North Sydney is a community of 5,700 people (2016) on the eastern shore of Cape Breton Island on the north shore of Sydney Harbour. As the service center for the ferry traffic to Newfoundland and Labrador, North Sydney has several restaurants and hotels locally and in the surrounding area to cater to travelers.The Summer months in Cape Breton are particularly special as there is numerous beaches, many community activities including world class golf courses, hiking, biking, and kayaking are all nearby. Winter months are spectacular as well with majestic snowmobile trails, x-country skiing, snowshoeing and two ski hills nearby with one having the first gondola in Eastern Canada.
